Introducing – Danny Smith, Midwest Regional Sales Manager

We are proud to introduce Danny Smith as our Midwest Regional Sales Manager who will be covering the state of Kansas. Danny has 26 years of law enforcement experience and has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He began his career with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, where he briefly worked in detention. Danny would then serve the next 24 years with the Mission Police Department where he worked as a patrol officer, law enforcement instructor, shift supervisor, crime scene processor and member of the investigations unit.

During his tenure in the investigation unit with the Mission PD, Danny actively participated in a county-wide Financial Abuse Special Team, focusing on crimes against dependent adults. He also served on a multidisciplinary child abuse team, working closely with healthcare providers, social workers, and prosecutors. He received specialized training in forensic child interviewing and has experience in exploitation and international human trafficking investigations.

Danny is a Computer Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA) examiner. He has participated in numerous multi-jurisdictional homicide investigations as a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Metro Squad Major Case Unit and conducts background investigations.

Danny is a licensed Part 107 commercial drone pilot. He continues to develop skills related to search and rescue and other types of drone operations.

After retiring from Mission PD in September 2024, Danny knew he could take the skills and techniques he learned on the job as well as stay connected and continue learning. Currently, he serves as a reserve deputy and teaches courses in crime scene, criminal and background investigations for small and tribal agencies through Lone Guardian LLC.

In his spare time, Danny enjoys spending time with his wife of 27 years, Jessica, and their adult son and daughter. You might find them outside fishing, on a nature walk or at the lake. If the weather’s bad they may be found inside watching movies and sitcoms. Danny has a great sense of humor and says, “I am a huge fan of Reno 911, but I try to keep that out of my actual work.”
